There is a lot of conversation in the wellbeing world about “coming back into the body”. About embodiment, presence, and learning to feel again. And while that can be beautiful and supportive for some, it can also quietly miss an important truth.
For many people, being in the body does not feel safe, comforting, or neutral. It can feel overwhelming, unpredictable, or even threatening.
Isolation tank, sensory deprivation tank, float tank, float pod, float cabin, flotation tank, or sensory attenuation… there are lots of names for this experience. I decided to give it a try in my quest for relaxation and calm.
